Abstract

We discuss the political and methodological implications about the uses of the notions of “violence” and / or “political violence” to conceptualize the social conflicts developed in Argentina during the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. For this, we analyze the academics interpretations about the “Trelewazo” (popular rebellion developed during October 1972 in Trelew, Chubut), seeking to deconstruct the investigations that aimed to hide the insurrectional potential of the fact. We work with primary and secondary sources, analyzing regional press, testimonies of participants and a wide bibliography on the specific and general theme. So we aim to contribute to the analysis of political violence, especially from groups that propose to face the current social order. In times where systematic mechanisms of violent politics against the people are re-implemented, we seek to build historical knowledge about the paths that made it possible to defeat the violence of power.
